Description:
The focus of medieval Indian studies has primarily been on economic history, with scholars mainly focusing on economic, social, and politico-administrative institutions. However, the mental and behavioural aspects of medieval Indian society have received little attention. This volume aims to create interest in the mental and behavioural aspects of medieval Indian society, focusing on the state, practices, ideas, ideologies, history, hierarchy, intellectual worlds, and mechanisms of conflict resolution. The editors believe that comparative studies are needed to understand the peculiarities of the medieval outlook in various regional cultures of India and to study the worldviews of Indian and pre-modern societies. This will help to better understand the mental and behavioural aspects of medieval Indian society.
